Lagos, like most fast growing cities in the world faces many challenges and those challenges are large because of its rapid growth. Lagos is a land of opportunities and this make the city-State a melting pot of all issues. From politics to culture, Lagos never disappoints. However, the presence of people from diverse walks of life which not only contributes to the prosperity of the State but also largely responsible for the environmental degradation.
As the State moves to ensure clean and better environment towards attaining
sustainable development, there is need for all hands to be on deck in ensuring
that Lagos is among the city of enviable character. In line with this and also
to ensure that the principle of sustainable development are enshrine into every
aspect of our lives, Eko EnviroTalk is birth to bridge the
environmental information gap to empower citizen so that can bring about change
within their community. ‘’Eko EnviroTalk’’ will be an Environment Lecture Series on
Lagos State which will directly connected to issues of environmental degradation,
sustainable development, climate change, solid waste, flooding etc.
Eko EnviroTalk will facilitate regular environmental lectures/conversation which
will be led by a Keynote lecture with the intention of promoting awareness on
the importance of environmental sustainability amongst a wider audience. These
talk series will feature
prominent voices from the environmental sector, addressing issues affecting
Lagos State on the local scales and also on global scale. Eko EnviroTalk series is
aimed to inform and inspire, connecting our community directly to environmental
practitioners that matter most. Our aim is to present a diverse range of
views to help advance the current conversation around climate change and
sustainability, and allow deeper reflections on these challenging issues.
Eko EnviroTalk will start on Zoom as a webinar series and will
migrate to the various media platform series. The talk will be aired on a day
that is convenient for most people. Presently, the Zoom platform is gaining
popularity among various age groups. So the use of this platform will be cost
effective for now.
